Join Our Team as a Legal Risk Manager

Are you ready to take on a high-impact role where you can shape the way legal risks are managed across a leading group?

Our General Counsel function is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Legal Risk Manager who will report into the Head of Legal Operations to support them as the main owner of the Society’s legal risk taxonomy.

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront assessing, reporting, and managing legal risks across the Society, while optimizing our enterprise-wide risk management framework and tools, including RCSA, key controls, and risk dashboards. You’ll work closely with Operational Risk and senior stakeholders, ensuring legal risks are clearly defined, proactively monitored, and aligned with our risk appetite.

Beyond risk management, you’ll have the opportunity to lead on key initiatives, oversee critical deliverables for the General Counsel function, and prepare high-impact executive reports for risk committees. You’ll also collaborate directly with the General Counsel Senior Leadership Team, influencing strategic decision-making at the highest level.

About you

The role is ideal for someone has professional skills, knowledge, and experience in risk or legal. To be successful in this role it’s essential you have:

Essential experience needed:

  • Have experience of working within a Compliance, Risk or Legal Function for a Financial Services Institution
  • Successfully developed and implemented firm-wide risk management policies and procedures
  • Growth mindset, adapt to new challenges and champion a continuous improvement culture
  • You will have a desire to learn so you can assist on a range of matters across the GC function,
  • Proven experience of BAU continuous improvement activities and Project Management methodology
  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to produce and cascade firm-wide training and guidance material

Desirable experience needed:

  • Relevant qualifications in risk management or legal compliance
  • Experience in risk-related projects and contentious regulatory matters
  • Ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences
