About the role

Coventry Building Society have an exciting new role for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Data Platform Services, to join our CIDO department.

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for providing strategic expertise to ensure effective management of the technical and business services for your specialist area. Accountable for the transition and ongoing support of the relevant solutions at CBS to meet business requirements and IT architectural strategy.

Providing a high level of technical knowledge to complete the troubleshooting of and resolution to production incidents or problems to meet our operational IT needs and ensure business as usual services are maintained within agreed SLA’s. Looking for improvement opportunities which will involve coaching, mentoring, planning, supervising, supporting, and training of your team.
 
This role requires the successful candidate to be on site in Coventry at least 2 days a week. Be available for out-of-hours support, on a rota basis - 1 week is 5 weeks as primary support and 1 week in 5 weeks as secondary support. 

About you

You’ll have a proactive approach, with a desire to develop and improve processes, and a willingness and aptitude to learn new systems and further your knowledge. Whilst staying up to date with immerging and relevant technologies. You’ll have knowledge, expertise and experience of administering and working with IBM Cognos – Analytics & Data Modelling. Experience administering PowerBi, Data Gateway and Fabric and expertise and ideally some experience of administering Qlik – Replicate, Compose & Enterprise Manager.

To be successful in this role, it’s essential that you’re able to demonstrate:

  • Some knowledge or experience supporting and administering SAS Analytics
  • Some knowledge or experience administering and configuring Informatica
  • Experience with SSIS, AWS Redshift, AWS concepts & practices, Agile work practices, Service Now and Sharepoint/Jira
  • You’ll have knowledge of SQL Server database systems, experience supporting applications/platforms within AWS and Azure and knowledge of systems management procedures in a large commercial, mission-critical environment.
  • Experience of capacity planning, performance tuning, proactive monitoring of solutions, ITIL based service management framework and experience of using the Microsoft Office products to create and manage documentation.
  • Proactive approach, strong computer literacy, the ability to work individually and within a team, a desire to developing and improving process and a willingness and aptitude for learning new systems and furthering knowledge of existing ones

Desirable skills for this role are:

  • You’ll have a good IT Infrastructure skill set with Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 &/or 2022.
  • Strong Application Support Skills, Powershell/Ansible scripting experience
  • Experience of producing high-quality documentation and user guides for the wider business and be able to work under pressure, thorough and with a good attention to detail.
  • Deliver to agreed timescales and a flexible approach to working hours to meet own objectives and assist colleagues in meeting their objectives.
