About the role

Our Chief Commercial Office are recruiting for a new role and are looking for a Group Head of Everyday Banking to join them.

This role will bring to life the value stream for the Group’s Family and Everyday Banking business with full accountability for Personal Current Accounts, Savings, Credit Cards, Debit Cards and Overdraft products across Co-operative Bank and the Coventry Building Society (and any other brands within the group). Responsible for the P&L, Balance sheet, propositions, journeys and strategy.  The role holder will put our members and customer‘s first, bringing significant experience in Everyday Banking and understanding the regulatory and commercial context to achieve growth and success.

The role holder will take leading role across the group to drive integration and transformational change for the Group Everyday Banking business, this requires strategic influence, and high-level decision-making to shape critical initiatives, and ensure strategic cohesion across the combined Group structure. 

The role will use internal and external data and research (customer, market, journey) – to understand customer needs, regulation and market trends. Understand the segments we want to target, the jobs to be done and the economic impact of decisions. It will also design our proposition and appropriate transition states to ensure we have an offering balancing growth demands, product economics, risk and regulatory requirements and the brand/group purpose and positioning.

It will create and run a commercial plan, setting appropriate targets across Savings and PCA product lines, delivering key financial metrics – such as NIM, NPS, market share, Asset and Liability balances, etc as well as reporting on performance and levers, (product, customer, balances, etc) including pricing and trading. Risk reporting, risk governance and working closely with the credit team on models for lending (overdrafts), capital usage and pricing models will also be responsibilities.

It will work with the horizontal origination and servicing teams ensure we have a prioritised approach to journey development and improvement, with subject matter experts from product working with journeys, operations, technology and risk as well as working with broader teams look at Core Banking platform development and migration. Ensuring a fit with product requirements, commercial plans and Everyday banking change roadmap.

This role can operate from either our Head Office campus in Binley, Coventry or our Manchester office but as a Group role, travel to both locations will be required. A team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.

About you

To be successful you’ll have experience in senior leadership, strategic influence, and high-level decision-making to shape critical initiatives, and ensure strategic cohesion.

To be successful in this role it’s essential you have:

  • Proven experience in a senior-level Everyday Banking and either a product, finance or strategy role within financial services
  • Demonstrable expertise in commercial management 
  • Extensive PCA experience
  • Experience of working with journey leads, finance and marketing
  • Ability to create bottom-up growth plans, balancing stretch and realism.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, capable of translating complex challenges into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities, with a track record of fostering cross-functional collaboration and influencing
  • Extensive experience of influencing across organisations at varying levels
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with multiple high-priority demands
  • Ability to anticipate future challenges / opportunities and shaping long-term strategies
  • Adept at managing relationships, securing stakeholder buy-in, and driving alignment across diverse teams

Desirable experience will be:

  • Evidence of leading through an integration
  • Skilled at navigating shifting priorities and evolving market conditions in a dual organisational setting
