About the role

Economic Crime have the new opportunity to join the Financial Crime Operations team as a Transaction Monitoring and Sanctions Screening Team Manager. This role will oversee our transaction monitoring operations to ensure compliance with AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and CTF (Counter-Terrorist Financing) obligations.
 
It will lead a team of TM Investigators, ensuring that investigations are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard and SLAs are met as well as ensuring that appropriate disclosures are made to the Investigative Reporting team. Helping to develop and enhance monitoring systems and play a pivotal role in shaping our Economic Crime prevention strategy is also a key part of this role. This role will also oversee the working of customer and payment screening alerts relating to sanctions, ensuring best in class operational discipline whilst ensuring the correct escalation path is required for further investigation.

The role will work closely and effectively with the Financial Crime Operations Lead using technical knowledge in Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions to continuously optimise the end to end process. Managing change positively within the team to ensure full buy in to future vision, direction and goals of stakeholders will be essential. It will ensure that operational services remain fit for purpose and compliant with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks across AML and Sanctions.

It will also ensure FC Operations processes remain fit for purpose, compliant with relevant statutory requirements and reflect a risk-based approach. As an SME for Economic Crime, the role holder will be required to provide specialist advice to Head Office departments and Branch Network on matters concerning Anti-Money Laundering, economic crime and other relevant control related matters.

This is an operational role that can operate from either our Head Office campus in Binley, Coventry or our Manchester office but travel to both locations will be required occasionally. A team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.

About you

You’ll be passionate about AML and preventing Economic Crime against the Society and its members. Leading a team will come naturally to you and you will demonstrate a desire to motivate and develop your staff.

To be successful in this role it’s essential you have:

  • Leadership experience with a passion for developing others and driving high standards
  • Strong experience within customer service and relevant financial services environment
  • Knowledge of Transaction Monitoring, Economic Crime risks and investigative techniques
  • Knowledge of AML and Economic Crime
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to handle complex investigations and high-pressure situations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

Desirable experience needed will be:

  • Qualifications such as the ICA Certificate in Anti-Money Laundering
  • Change / project management and process improvement experience
