About the role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior QA Analyst to join our Retail Credit Risk team.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring that the Group’s Lending policy and strategy are accurately interpreted and applied across the Retail lending products.

The role holder will be responsible for conducting quality assurance reviews on mortgage lending decisions, as well as arrears management activities, to ensure compliance with policy and to support Credit Risk identify any systemic issues that may lead to non-compliance with policy & strategy.

Help maintain and enhance the Quality Assurance Framework by ensuring robust governance and delivering insightful reporting that evidences the quality of operational activity and risk management.

Collaborating closely with Lending and Arrears Operations and making proactive recommendations to Credit Risk Senior Management on any areas where policy or strategy can be improved or optimised.

Location: We operate on a team led hybrid approach with at least 1 day a week in the Coventry & or Manchester office

About you

We are seeking a credit risk or lending professional with experience in mortgage policy, underwriting and quality assurance. To be successful in this role you will need the following:

 Essential experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending policy, strategy, and underwriting processes.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting components: scorecards, bureau data, affordability models, and policy rules.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g. MMR, PRA/FCA) and ability to ensure compliance.
  • Proven experience in a QA environment, supporting lending, underwriting, or collections.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to apply investigative, research and analytical skills. Use data and MI for effective and insightful reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and mentor junior colleagues effectively.

Desirable experience:

  • Knowledge of automated decisioning systems and digital lending platforms.
  • Exposure to broader retail banking products beyond mortgages (e.g. credit cards, personal loans).
