Summary

About the role

We’re proud to announce we’re running our Summer Internship Programme again in 2026.

This is a great opportunity to gain some hands on, paid work experience in one of our Coventry branches in the Branch Network. This is a face to face role based in one of our friendly branches, talking with and supporting our customers over the counter. (The programme is only available to students studying for the first time in years 12 or 13 at college or 6th form)

In the programme at one of our Coventry branches, the responsibilities include:

  • Meeting our members face-to-face, getting to know them and providing them with excellent customer service
  • Handling their transactions accurately
  • Updating their account records and dealing with any questions or queries

How will you develop?

We want you to get the most out of your internship and will provide you with enough training so you have the knowledge and skills to succeed in your role. Your first week will involve you learning all about Coventry Building Society, our processes and how we work. You’ll then put your knowledge in to practice with the support of a buddy who will be on hand to answer any questions along the way. Your manager will also provide you with regular feedback and support to make sure you’re getting the most out of your programme.

Our Internship Programmes will start on Monday 20th July and will run until Friday 28th of August working full time Monday to Friday.

This is a great opportunity to understand how we work and some of our interns have gone on to secure part time Saturday roles to fit around their study at the end of the programme.

About you

We’re looking for individuals who share our values and our passion for putting people first. If you like building relationships with new people, have good attention to detail and like learning new things, this could be the programme for you.

You'll need to have a positive, friendly attitude and excellent communication skills. We’re looking for people who have the confidence to engage with a diverse variety of people, who are customer focused and have the ability to be accurate and deal with our customer’s transactions.

We want you to get the most out of the opportunity and as it’s only on for 6 weeks it’s important you don’t have any more than a couple of days holiday during this time, with none of this during the first week, as these are the key training days.

The programme is only available to students studying for the first time in years 12 or 13 at college or 6th form, who have not completed the programme previously.

Our values are:

  • Caring – Helpful, Thoughtful, Kind
  • Ambitious – Aspirational, Brave, Agile
  • Responsible – Ethical, Reliable, Trusted
  • Empowering – Inspiring, Enabling, Confident
  • Straightforward – Simple, Easy, Clear

Please consider these values when answering your application questions.

The selection process will involve a review of your CV and application questions, a telephone interview and a competency interview with a couple of our friendly Managers.
