About the role

Our Economic Crime team are recruiting for a Quality Control (QC) Specialist to join them on a 12 month basis. The QC Specialist is responsible for providing independent oversight of Financial Crime operational activity, ensuring the quality, accuracy and regulatory compliance of work across AML, CDD/KYC, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and fraud investigations. This role ensures that operational decisions align with internal policies, regulatory expectations and established risk standards, while supporting strong customer outcomes.

The role holder will assess casework and operational activity to identify trends, themes and root causes of quality or compliance issues, using insight to highlight risks and opportunities for improvement across Financial Crime processes. In addition, this role undertakes customer outcome and regulatory monitoring across AML and sanctions activity in line with Financial Crime principles.

This role provides constructive and actionable feedback to operational teams, acting as a subject matter expert on policy, regulation and best practice. The person in post will contribute to the development and implementation of process and control improvements that strengthen overall quality, consistency and compliance, supporting the effective management of financial crime risk across the organisation.

This role can operate from our Head Offices in Manchester or Binley, Coventry. As a Group role, travel to both locations will be required and a team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.

About you

For this role you’ll need to have:

  • Experience in Economic Crime including knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and typologies, Transaction monitoring and investigations, CDD, EDD, customer risk assessment Sanctions and PEP screening
  • QA/QC, audit, or second‑line review experience
  • Experience working in a regulated financial services environment
  • Coaching experience with the ability to deliver feedback and training
  • Ability to interpret regulatory guidance and translate it into operational quality standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical judgement
  • Ability to challenge decisions constructively and professionally
  • Clear written communication and confident in engaging with stakeholders across operations, compliance, and risk

 Experience in these areas would be helpful:

  • Exposure to financial crime audits or compliance reviews
  • Experience with AML systems, case management tools & data analysis tools
  • Experience of designing and delivering training in a professional/regulated setting
