About the role

The Practice Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the people agenda, ensuring the Practice is supported by a highly skilled, motivated workforce. With a strong focus on talent management, development, and coaching, the role is responsible for driving engagement and enabling individuals to perform at their best. By building capability within agile product teams and creating opportunities for personal growth and stretch assignments, the Practice Manager will develop robust talent pipelines and support long-term succession planning.

 This role is central to defining goals, shaping future ways of working, and delivering a reimagined operating model enabled by innovative technology and agile practices. The Practice Manager will provide consistent, inspirational people leadership — fostering a culture of continuous learning, high performance, and community. Through leading and inspiring people, role modelling values and behaviours, empowering teams, and managing and recognising performance, they will build capability, support delivery, and drive continuous improvement to create sustainable success.

 Working closely with senior leadership, the Practice Manager will lead a team and oversee wider resource planning, including third-party support. They will create an inclusive, psychologically safe environment where individuals feel confident to share ideas and challenge thinking. With strong stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and a focus on risk management and customer outcomes, the Practice Manager will ensure delivery excellence while using data and insight to inform strategic decision-making and drive meaningful business impact.

We operate on a team-led hybrid approach with at least 2 to 3 days a week in the Coventry office.

About you

As an experienced leader who is passionate about coaching and empowering others to make decisions that lead to great outcomes, you’ll have the ability to create a culture of continuous improvement and will lead, inspire and grow the capability of your team.

For this role you’ll need to have:

  • Experience of leading, developing and inspiring large technical teams
  • The ability to quantify resource requirements, measure and communicate proposed outcomes, value, benefits and risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experienced in managing performance and recognising and rewarding performance for a techincal team.
  • Be an advocate for career paths, identifying development opportunities and an ability to incubate and grow the talent pool.
  • Experience in setting up, conducting and interviewing for technical roles.
  • Experience in managing contracted resources.
  • Resilience and ability to maintain energy and enthusiasm to embrace situations positively to motivate and inspire engineering team members.

Experience in these areas would be helpful:

  • Demonstrate previous experience of carrying out a similar role within the financial services sector.
  • Experience in managing a technical team within a Data or IT function.
