About the role

Our Chief Operating Office has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager to join our Operational Resilience team.

The Operational Resilience Senior Manager, is responsible for leading the Group’s Operational Resilience Strategy and Framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations and strengthening the Group’s ability to respond to disruption. It’s a key leadership role, driving a culture of resilience across the Group and helping to protect important business services while delivering good outcomes for customers and members.

The successful candidate will lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Operational Resilience Framework and Resilience Testing Strategy, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practice. They will drive a programme of activity to embed resilience capabilities across the organisation, working closely with stakeholders to enhance preparedness, strengthen controls and support continuous improvement.

Leading a team of Senior Analysts and working collaboratively with other Senior Managers within the Risk function, the role holder will represent Operational Resilience across governance forums and provide expert advice and challenge to senior stakeholders. They will support the Group Head of Operational Resilience and Crisis management in the coordination and development of high‑quality reporting, management information and governance papers that provide clear insight into resilience risks, performance and progress.

This role will also oversee Operational Resilience governance activities, including committee management, action tracking, regulatory reporting and programme oversight.

The role also supports the Group's Crisis Management function, including the coordination of operational response meetings (Bronze and Silver). The successful candidate will participate in the incident chair rota and play a key role in facilitating an effective response to operational disruptions.

This role can operate from either our Head Offices in Manchester or Binley in Coventry but as a Group role, travel to both locations will be required and a team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place with at least 2 days in the office required (mainly Coventry due to team location)

About you

For this role it’s essential you have:

  • Deep understanding and experience of maintaining and developing Operational Resilience frameworks, ideally within retail banking.
  • A strong background in business continuity, supported by a fundamental understanding of IT recovery and resilience, cyber security, risk management, physical security and third-party resilience.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of developing teams, influencing senior stakeholders and driving delivery.
  • Excellent judgement, ownership and accountability in both BAU and incident situations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, working to tight deadlines and delivering pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong understanding of PRA, FCA and other regulatory requirements, industry standards and best practice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex resilience, technology and risk matters for Executive and Board audiences.
  • Experience producing Board, Committee and Executive-level papers, MI, dashboards and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong governance and stakeholder management experience, including committee coordination, oversight forums and programme reporting.

 Experience in these areas would be helpful:

  • Experience of using and administering ServiceNow, including workflow management, reporting, request fulfilment and governance processes.
  • ServiceNow and ERP tools
